VICTORVILLE, Calif., July 17 (High Desert News Online) — Costco food courts at several California warehouses have begun serving chicken strips, a new $6.99 menu item that comes with five pieces and dipping sauce, according to store workers and menu signs reported by SFGATE.

SFGATE said the item first appeared on July 6 at a Santa Rosa location, then showed up on July 11 at warehouses in Alhambra, Los Feliz and on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield. A worker at a Concord store told SFGATE the strips had been available for “a few days” by July 15.

The menu signs SFGATE viewed listed the item at 1,130 to 1,640 calories. In the California stores SFGATE checked, the chicken strips appeared to have replaced Costco’s calzone.

Victor Valley News reported the same menu change at the Victorville Costco food court at 14555 Valley Center Drive, saying the location was serving crispy chicken strips for $6.99 with sauce.

Costco has not issued a public statement in the sources reviewed about whether the change is a limited test, a staggered rollout or a permanent menu update at California locations.
